School Term Dates

Term and Holiday Dates 2007-08

Local Education Authorities (LEAs) in London have adopted dates recommended by London Councils (formerly Association of London Government (ALG) which will standardise the school year across London. There is a core of 190 teaching days around which 4 professional development (INSET) days can be set and one more to be arranged through flexible arrangements by schools. Term dates in the remainder of England should follow the same dates with a few exceptions

The dates are arranged in six terms with the three traditional terms divided into two terms each. Voluntary Aided Schools and Academies set their own dates but have been invited to follow the LEA pattern as far as possible.
